Barb Haeder has over 31 years of experience as an RN. She received her Masters of Science in Nursing in 2014 and for the past three years has served as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the role of a change agent at UnityPoint Health Cedar Rapids – St. Luke’s Hospital.

Barb has been instrumental in providing leadership and education in the implementation of a First Steps Advance Care Planning program. She serves as a Respecting Choices Organization Faculty and Certified First Steps Advance Care Planning Instructor and Facilitator.

Barb is also an Educator/Coach with the patient and family experience which involves mentoring staff in patient and family engagement strategies.

In her role as a NICHE Coordinator, she has taught the Geriatric Resource Nurse curriculum across the continuum of care and has implemented a Geriatric Resource Team. She is integrating the NICHE curriculum along with a simulation experience for senior nursing students at Mount Mercy University. It was through her NICHE work that she became familiar with the HELP program and she is excited to begin the development and implementation of this program.
