Nancy Roberts, RN, MSN, is the president and CEO of VNA of Care New England (CNE) Health System; a Medicare certified community-based home health agency, and HealthTouch, a private pay home health organization. Both entities are Joint Commission accredited and provide a comprehensive array of home health, hospice, private pay and community care services, serving over 8,500 adult patients annually. Prior to her appointment to president and CEO in 1996, Roberts held various managerial and clinical positions with the organization. Additionally, in 2013, Roberts was appointed executive vice president of care management for the CNE health system and executive director of Blackstone Health Inc.

In 2013, Roberts recently a one-year appointment by CMS to the inaugural group of Innovation Advisors at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid and was subsequently one of 10 national health care leaders chosen to participate in the Project Change Leaders Program funded by the Atlantic Philanthropies and the John A. Hartford Foundation both of which are committed to achieving transformative improvements in care for older adults. In 2014, Roberts received a Hartford Foundation Change AGEnts action award to continue the work of developing and implementing an innovatative and person-centered care transitions program for patients across the CNE system.

Roberts serves on a number of boards and committees including the following: Center for Homecare Policy & Research Care Transition Study Advisory Group at the Visiting Nurse Service of New York; Chair of the Rhode Island Foundation’s Routhier and Newton Nurse Scholarship Committee; and past Chair hair of the Rhode Island Visiting Nurse Network. In 2002, The Visiting Nurse Associations of America (VNAA) elected Roberts to a five-year term as board chair. Roberts had been recognized with several awards including the Community College of Rhode Island’s Education Champion, VNAA’s Dick Anderton Mentor of the Year Award, and the National Reserve Guard’s Employer Support Award. Additionally, Roberts has served as a consultant to the Rhode Island Department of Health and was instrumental in the development of a statewide maternal child health and family support home visiting program, this program is nationally recognized as a best practice.

Roberts is a graduate of Wheelock College, Newton Wellesley School of Nursing and the University of Rhode Island where she earned her Masters degree in Nursing. She resides in Narragansett, Rhode Island.
