James Stowe, PhD, is dedicated to developing the systems, technology, and community relationships that help to secure the health and well-being of vulnerable older people. In 2017, he joined the Mid-America Regional Council to direct the department of Aging and Adult Services. This department is designated as an Area Agency on Aging for five counties in the Kansas City region.
Dr. Stowe recently served as research faculty at the Washington University School of Medicine where he managed the Neuroscience Driving Simulation Laboratory. His work, including research, focuses on real solutions to the everyday problems of older people, including the deployment of extant technology in new ways. He holds a doctorate in human environmental sciences from the University of Missouri–Columbia and a master’s degree in family studies and human services from Kansas State University, both with an emphasis in gerontology.
